Chris and Miriam’s first introduction to the ketogenic diet was when their oldest son started having seizures. As they followed the medical advice that was given to them, they were introduced to keto as a potential last-ditch effort to treat these seizures if medication was not successful.
They finally found a medication that helped their son and all but forgot about the ketogenic diet until years later when Chris decided to lose weight.
As they started keto (Chris first and then later Miriam), they quickly realized how effective it was (it was the only thing we tried that had any lasting effect on our health), but it was daunting and time consuming.
Even though they researched as much as possible, they still made mistakes like not getting enough electrolytes, and using a meal replacement shake that was loaded with coconut flour, chia seeds, and other gritty stuff. (0/10 would not recommend.) They wanted to make it easier.
I am a Fellow in The American Academy of Family Physicians. I have been practicing Family Medicine in rural Tennessee for over a decade, and have seen over 20,000 patients in my career so far.
I’ve seen so much suffering and heartache, all because of the unnecessary complications of diseases caused by our modern diet. Well, I’ve had enough! It’s time to do something to stop this slow suffering from these preventable epidemics. No big medical words here, just plain talk you can use to stay healthy and happy. Mitzi has been following the low carb/keto/PHD (Proper Human Diet) lifestyle more than seven years. She recently finished her master’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in nutrition. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Sciences and her current area of research expertise is “The effective use of social media in the delivery of a health intervention.” She is a moderator and PHD Mentor in Dr. Berry’s Mighty Network and YouTube Channel. She is also a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP), an experienced health coach, and a yoga teacher.
Eleven years ago, she was obese with a long list of medical conditions including: depression, ADD, fatty liver, pre-diabetic, insulin resistant, sleep apnea, acid reflux, joint pain, planter’s fasciitis, brain fog, gas and bloating, acne, and dry eye syndrome. In 2020 she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and decided it was time to have her breast implants removed. After implant removal and breast re-construction surgery in 2021, she has seen a marked improvement in her thyroid blood markers. She is currently on no medications.
Mitzi found her way to low carb in 2015 and in May of 2016, attended her first Low Carb Cruise, was inspired to try Keto. She’s lost at least 50+ pounds, but she’s not totally sure of her heaviest weight, because she refused to ever get on the scale again when she hit 200 pounds.
In her civilian job she works in Defense Acquisition and is a senior logistician for the US.Patriot Missile Battery.
Dave Feldman is a senior software engineer who became obsessed with understanding Lipidology after seeing his cholesterol climb substantially on a low carb diet. He has since performed a series of experiments around this phenomenon, published several papers on its mechanisms and phenotype, and is currently conducting a clinical study out of UCLA through his newly formed public charity, the Citizen Science Foundation.

Amber has been studying (and eating!) low carb diets of some form or other for the last 25 years, the last half of which has been specifically the Carnivore Diet, which she helped bring into modern awareness by giving the first conference talks on the diet in 2017, organising the first Carnivore conference in 2019, and writing the first scientific paper with "Carnivore Diet" in the title in 2020. As such, she has unique insight into the history of this trend and the common pitfalls of new adopters and influencers. Amber is a free speech maximalist and advocate of privacy-enhancing and censorship-resistant technologies.

Mary has 9 years of food sobriety and recovery from bulimia, binge eating disorder, and compulsive eating. Prior to pursuing a ketogenic lifestyle she battled her eating disorders, and suffered from type two diabetes, hypertension, psoriasis, asthma, allergies, sleep apnea, and snoring. All of which were resolved with a real food Ketogenic way of eating. Mary lost over 100 pounds and is medication free, while maintaining a non-diabetic A1c and overall good health.
Mary’s passion is helping others break free from food obsession and emotional eating, which is a result of eating disorders/disordered behavior with food. She also has a heart for working with type two diabetics with food addiction. She helps them reverse their diabetes through a real food way of eating and by overcoming their disordered relationship with food so they can maintain a non diabetic status.

Robert Orion Sikes is a lifetime natural, competitive bodybuilder. He started training as a junior in high school weighing a whopping 115 pounds. In the beginning, he followed traditional, “bro-dieting” wisdom which consisted of eating 6 or 7 meals a day filled with carbohydrates and very high protein. This nutritional protocol led to a downward spiral of health issues and disordered eating.
After his third bodybuilding competition, Robert decided to try something new and began experimenting with a high fat, strict ketogenic approach to bodybuilding. He formulated his own approach to contest prep nutrition leveraging keto and earned his pro-status with bodybuilding in 2017.
